Gird Your Loins: Preparing for Life's Unpredictable Journey
GenFM with Liam and Jessica Anne Bogart

Okay, this is a good one. One of my favorite movies is “The Devil Wears Prada”. Now, if you are anywhere near social media or any type of media at all, you know that “The Devil Wears Prada 2”, debuts today, May 1. One of the highlighted phrases from the original movie is, “Gird Your Loins”. This simply means, get yourself together! Get ready for something big!

That resonates so much with our state of mind this year. Prepare yourself for the great things that God has prepared for you. If you are building, get ready for the great impact you have been planning and preparing for. In other words, don’t just talk about it, be about it! There is a scripture in the Bible that says just that. Ephesians 6:14 says

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

The name of the movie could throw you for a loop if you are believer in Jesus Christ, like I am. I had to see a small clip of the movie, before I could determine if it was even watchable. But, once I watched it and understood the context, I began to grasp and understand it better.

So many times we forget to arm ourselves for the successful life that we desire to have. As Christians we know that our main enemy is the devil. But, we have to arm ourself with God’s truth. When you are grounded in God and His word, you will be preserved from the deceit and lies of the devil. You will be ready for the greatness God has for you. You will overcome and jump over the mines that the devil has set to destroy you. You will thrive where other men fail.

Stand ready! Whatever challenge approaches, meet it with sharpened focus, steady resolve, and an unwavering plan. Anticipate friction, identify core risks, and allocate resources where they will blunt the first blows. Move with urgency, but not recklessness—prioritize decisive actions that protect long-term value.

Steps to act now:

  • Clarify the threat or opportunity in one sentence.

  • Assign a single accountable leader and a small response team.

  • Define the non-negotiables (what must be protected or achieved).

  • Outline three immediate moves (contain, stabilize, exploit) with owners and 24–72 hour deadlines.

  • Set a daily 15-minute checkpoint to surface setbacks and reallocate resources.

Mindset:

  • Embrace calibrated courage: act quickly, iterate, and learn.

  • Communicate with clarity: facts, status, and precise asks.

  • Preserve optionality: create fallbacks and conserve runway.

This is a call to readiness—prepare deliberately, act decisively, and convert pressure into advantage. EV Warriors!!! Gird Your Loins!!!
